History...
The Rockin Bandits were formed in the late 80's by guitarist Chris Cook and his brother Gerry On Slap Bass. They were then joined by drummer Colin Barnett. Over the next decade, they worked with several front men on and off the Rockin circuit. They even had a short break from the Rockin Bandits and went out as the Rhythm Rascals but found themselves once more wanting a front man they could gel with on and off the stage.
In 2000, they approached solo 50's singer Mike Venner and re-launched the Rockin Bandits.
They were sooon back on the circuit gigging such venues as Hemsby, The Americana, pubs and rock n' roll clubs around the country.
This continued for 5 years until Gerry was diagnosed with a heart condition and had to leave the band. At this time the band was very busy but were fortunate to continue with Bass player - Dave Doel (now with the western aces) who stayed with the band for 18 months until Gerry returned having made a remarkable recovery and is still slapping that famous white bass till this present day.
The Rockin Bandits are a 4 piece band playing authentic 50's style music with particular emphasis on HillBilly, RockaBilly, Rock n' Roll genres.
All played with our own country feel. We cater for all requirements from circuit gigs to special occassions. We travel near and far and are happy to play venues of varying sizes.
